The Minnesota Private College Council’s job fair established a differential pricing structure for employers who wish to attend based on skin color and ancestry. FAIR Legal sent a letter to the council explaining how the pricing structure was in violation of civil rights protections, including Minnesota’s Human Rights Act. Section 363A.17. FAIR urged the MPCC to withdraw and remedy the discriminatory pricing structure within the bounds of legally permitted conditions. Four days after receiving FAIR’s letter the MPCC group decided to modify its pricing to adhere to civil rights protections, and updated its website accordingly.
FAIR is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civil rights and liberties for all, and promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding, and humanity.
