Lou Perez

COMEDIAN, PRODUCER, AUTHOR

Lou Perez is a comedian, producer with Cancelled Productions LLC, and author of That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore: On the Death and Rebirth of ComedyYou may have seen him on FOX’s Gutfeld! and Open to Debate (with Michael Ian Black).

Lou was the head writer and producer of the Webby Award-winning comedy channel We the Internet TV and produces Comedy Is Murder, a sketch comedy series with Free the People.

For years, Lou performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (both in New York City and Los Angeles) in sketch shows with the Hammerkatz and his comedy duo, Greg and Lou, who are best known for their viral comedy sketch “Wolverine’s Claws Suck,” which has over 20 million views across online platforms.

Lou was a writer for Fox Sports’ @TheBuzzer; produced The Attendants with with Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video; produced pilots for FOX Digital and MSN Games; and was a comedy producer on TruTV’s Impractical Jokers.
 
Lou has worked with organizations like The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression to produce videos like “Taking a Knee in Sports?“, which was a SILVER ADDY® WINNER at the American Advertising Awards.
 
In addition to producing and consulting, Lou does stand-up comedy around the country, and his opinion writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Spectator USA, Spiked Magazine, and the American Institute for Economic Research. 

Not only is Lou a FAIR in the Arts advisory fellow, he’s also on the advisory board of Heresy Press, and hosts the live debate series The Wrong Take and The Lou Perez Podcast.
 
Lou taught creative writing at the City College of New York, “writing the web series” for Writing Pad, and comedy workshops for the Moving Picture Institute.
