Ohio Chapter

The “Make Ohio FAIR” Chapter of the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) was launched in October 2024.

Ohio joined the FAIR organization because FAIR is the only nonpartisan national organization dedicated to advancing the civil rights and liberties of ALL FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS, without preference or exception.

In recent years, the far political right and the far political left have both lost their way throughout Ohio and across this country. Stereotyping others, bigotry, and promoting illegal tactics to attain their goals have become common place. Hate against anyone is wrong. FAIR and Make Ohio FAIR believe it must stop now.

FAIR and Make Ohio FAIR give everyone an alternative to this bigoted and illegal rhetoric.

FAIR’s goal is to return to the original purpose of the civil rights movement, which was to bring equality to all human beings, regardless of their demographical, cultural, religious, or political differences.

In the immortal words of Martin Luther King, Jr. on May 19, 1963 in his Letter From A Birmingham Jail:

“Injustice ANYWHERE is a threat to justice EVERYWHERE.”

That is the essence of BOOMERANG BIGOTRY:

If I throw a boomerang of bigotry at you, someone will certainly throw that boomerang back at me or someone who looks like me.

Bigotry only escalates the creation of more bigotry.

FAIR and Make Ohio FAIR will :

INFORM others of the importance of having constructive disagreements and understanding diverse perspectives;

EMPOWER everyone by providing tools and methods for advancing the original purpose of America’s civil rights mission and promoting fairness, understanding, and humanity in our community; and

ADVOCATE on behalf of all whose rights have been violated by employers, schools, or others.

YES… ALL HUMANS are welcome at FAIR and in the Make Ohio FAIR.

Scott WarrickState Coordinator

Scott Warrick is a practicing Employment Law Attorney, Human Resource Professional, and three-time best-selling author with over 40 years of hands-on experience.  For over 25 years, he was a staunch advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, or DEI. He has spoken at over 25 DEI conferences across the country and was a seven-time presenter at the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) National Diversity/Inclusion Conference. Scott’s second book, Living The Five Skills of Tolerance, was  a #1 Best Seller in 13 categories on Amazon.

However, when the SHRM human resource chapter he helped found in 1986 in Columbus, Ohio, the Human Resource Association of Central Ohio (HRACO), said that the reason white men do not support DEI programs is because they are all “guilty,” he went to the chapter’s leadership with concerns about the statement. Not only did they ignore the race essentialist nature of the comment, but the stereotyping and the teaching of illegal programming tactics continued. For 18 months, Scott tried to fully discuss these issues, but his attempts fell of deaf ears and were sometimes even met with ridicule.

After a year and a half of trying to end the illegal and bigoted programming put on by HRACO, Scott became a whistleblower. In November 2023, he broadcasted his “Is Your DEI Program Racist?” podcast, revealed the race-essentialist comments made by the members of HRACO.

He was promptly cancelled by not only HRACO, the organization which he’d helped found, but also by the Ohio State SHRM Council, the Ohio State SHRM Conference, several SHRM chapters across the state and several other professional associations who also engage in stereotyping.

So, Scott went to FAIR. FAIR graciously allowed Scott to coordinate and start the Make Ohio FAIR chapter to help contest race-essentialist and discriminatory programming, policies, and behaviors across the state.

Scott believes that the world will not be safe for ANYONE until it is safe for EVERYONE.
