About

Founded by a group of Harvard Alumni dedicated to civil rights, civil liberties, tolerance and objective truth, the FAIR Harvard Alumni+ Chapter brings together Harvard Alumni as well as current Harvard University students, faculty, staff and parents of undergrads who support the mission and principles of FAIR.

FAIR Executive Director Monica Harris (JD ’91), along with FAIR Board of Advisors members Andrew Sullivan (MPA ’86, PhD ’90) and Stephen Hawkins (MPP ‘16) are among the Harvard Alumni standing up for civil rights and liberties for all Americans while promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding and humanity. We hope that you will join us, too.

Background

FAIR’s founding and exponential growth speak to an unmet need—a nonpartisan voice for civil rights, civil liberties and tolerance during a time when these tenets of a free society have been cast as optional or even harmful.  The FAIR Harvard Alumni+ Chapter was founded to represent, gather and connect FAIR-minded members of the Harvard community. As part of the Harvard community, we share in what we believe is Harvard’s responsibility as a global beacon of free thought and unfettered inquiry.

Veritas: Live Up to It.
We understand that truth is not something to be endowed, but discovered; the pursuit of truth a lifelong journey. The courage to think freely and independently in the pursuit of truth sets our members apart and brings us together at this pivotal moment for education and our civil society.
Our Goals

The FAIR HA+ Chapter aims to connect our members with one another, raise awareness around issues relevant to Harvard and higher education, support our members as they navigate issues related to FAIR’s mission, and stand up as one voice in defense of civil rights, civil liberties, tolerance and intellectual freedom on campus and beyond.

Our Team

Our chapter leaders, advisors and team of volunteers are fierce defenders of civil rights, civil liberties and tolerance as well as intellectual freedom, viewpoint diversity and freedom of speech. Our team brings expertise in many areas, including higher education, law, medicine, philanthropy and alumni relations. If you’re interested in joining our chapter and/or our growing team of volunteers, please fill out the form below.

Our Efforts

Connect HA+ Members

  • We offer a virtual community space in which to gather, share resources, and correspond.
  • We connect members within our sub-communities of alumni, faculty, students and parents.

Share Resources & Amplify Voices

  • We celebrate and amplify voices and advances related to FAIR’s mission and principles by sharing articles, podcasts, books and other resources through our newsletter, website and social media.
  • We elevate Harvard-affiliated scholarship and opinion, platforming Harvard voices in support of our principles.

Support our Community

  • We highlight and advocate around issues impacting Harvard and higher education.
  • In this spirit, we support Harvard students, faculty, staff and parents with concerns related to racism, intolerance, civil rights, civil liberties, intellectual freedom and freedom of speech while promoting initiatives supporting FAIR’s values.
